What is a CT scan like?
A radiologist, endorsed by the American Board of Radiology, oversees the CT scan. The radiologist will be assisted by a radiology technician and perhaps a radiology nurse. You could be asked to fast for a set number of hours prior to your CT or CAT scan with our Florida team. A contrast substance, at times referred to as “dye,” could be given to highlight blood vessels or strengthen organ depictions. If a contrast agent is employed, it will be administered into a vein, generally in your arm. Some or all of the solution could be administered via a syringe, or all of it could run gradually into your vascular system from an intravenous (IV) bottle. A record of contrast (e.g. iodine) reaction should be described to our staff before the CT or CAT scan.
You will be asked to lie on a platform that shifts into a hollow ring in the middle of the CT scanning machine. X-rays pass through the area of importance in your body and are perceived by an assortment of mechanical sensors. You will be provided with respiration directions, and then the bed will run slowly through the CT or CAT scanner. The total scan will be finished within moments. You will experience absolutely no pain. Information from these sensors is then computer-processed and displayed as an image on a video screen. Film reproductions of these pictures might be produced for subsequent examination. To schedule your CT scan, request an appointment with our GI providers at Gastroenterology Associates of Florida.

Doctor Silverstein is one of the best doctors I’ve had. She is very understanding and helpful. Not only does she take her job seriously she takes inconsideration of the patients fears and concerns to make you feel welcomed and on the same page.
For sometime I was bothered by a digestive problem. Being examined and discussing it with Dr. Medrano I left the office already feeling better. He was calm, knowledgeable and reassuring. I was quite pleased with his professionalism. I believe my problem will soon be history.
I had tried to get an appointment with another gastro physician twice and was told he had no appointment time for my visit for two months. I had a serious problem because of radiation I was receiving which made me very nauseous and unable to eat. Despite the problem I described to that physician’s assistant he had no time?! I wondered about the oath he had given when becoming a physician to save lives! Dr. Steinberg saw me at 8am the next morning (!) following my call to his office. He prescribed medication for the nausea and I can now eat once more! A great doctor, thank you, Dr. Steinberg!
